BRBFoods

In Development

Know your food before you eat it.

BRBFoods is being developed as an online food-ordering and delivery platform built around transparency, convenience and environmental responsibility.

Through our KYF — Know Your Food concept, customers will be able to understand more about what they are ordering—from nutritional information and ingredients to the cooking oil and spices used in preparing the dish.

And because responsible food should come in responsible packaging, BRBFoods is being built around a plastic-free approach.

Introduction

Ordering food should not require guesswork.

Most food-ordering platforms tell customers the name of the dish, its price, a photograph, a rating and the expected delivery time. But they often tell very little about the food itself.

BRBFoods is being developed to make food ordering more transparent. The idea is simple: Before you order your food, you should be able to know more about it.

Customers may not currently know

  • What ingredients have been used
  • Which cooking oil has been used
  • What spices or masalas are included
  • How nutritious the dish may be
  • Whether it contains common allergens
  • How it has been packed
  • How much plastic will arrive with the order

The Core Concept

KYF — Know Your Food

KYF is the central idea behind BRBFoods. It is being designed to give customers useful information about every eligible dish in a simple and readable format.

Instead of presenting only a menu name and an attractive photograph, BRBFoods will aim to explain what goes into the food. The objective is not to turn every meal into a complicated scientific report. It is to give customers enough practical information to make a more informed choice.

Why KYF Matters

People increasingly care about what they eat.

One person may be trying to increase protein intake. Another may be avoiding excessive oil. Someone may have a food allergy. A parent may want to understand what is being ordered for a child. KYF is being developed to make this information easier to access before the order is placed.

KYF Details

Useful information without overwhelming the customer.

Nutritional Information

More than just counting calories.

  • Approximate serving size
  • Calories, protein, carbohydrates
  • Total fat, fibre, sugar and sodium
  • Other relevant nutritional information

The platform may also help users understand whether a dish is high in protein, rich in fibre, relatively light, high in carbohydrates, high in fat or high in sodium. Nutritional values may be estimates and may vary between servings.

Know the Cooking Oil

The oil used matters.

BRBFoods intends to clearly mention the cooking oil used in each eligible dish, such as:

  • Mustard, groundnut or sunflower oil
  • Rice bran, olive, coconut or sesame oil
  • Ghee, butter or other cooking fats

Where relevant, customers may also be informed if more than one oil has been used, or whether the dish is deep-fried, shallow-fried or prepared with very little oil. The purpose is transparency—not labelling one oil as universally good or bad.

Spices and Masalas

Flavour should not be a mystery.

KYF is intended to show the important spices, seasonings and masala blends used in a dish—enough for customers to understand the main flavour profile without needing every spice measured to the milligram.

  • Turmeric, cumin, coriander
  • Chilli, black pepper, garam masala
  • Ginger, garlic and other seasonings
  • Heat or spiciness level

Ingredients and Allergens

Important information should be visible before ordering.

  • Milk and dairy, peanuts, tree nuts
  • Wheat or gluten, soy, eggs
  • Sesame, mustard, fish, shellfish
  • Onion, garlic, added sugar
  • Artificial colours or preservatives

A dish may not intentionally contain a particular allergen but could still be prepared in a kitchen where cross-contact is possible. Appropriate disclosures should therefore be displayed wherever necessary.

Food Preferences

Make it easier to find food that fits.

  • Vegetarian, non-vegetarian, vegan
  • Jain-friendly and no onion/garlic
  • High-protein and low-oil
  • Gluten-conscious and dairy-free
  • Mildly spiced or spicy
  • Children-friendly options

Preparation Information

How food is prepared can matter as much as what it contains.

  • Grilled, baked, roasted, steamed
  • Stir-fried, shallow-fried, deep-fried
  • Slow-cooked or tandoor-cooked
  • Made to order or prepared in advance

Where practical, BRBFoods may also explain approximate preparation time, customisation availability and whether preservatives or artificial colours are used.

A simple KYF display

The KYF section on each dish page should be easy to scan. A possible presentation could include: What Is In It, Nutrition, Oil Used, Spices and Masalas, Preparation, Allergens and Packaging.

Customers who want a quick answer can view the summary. Those who want more information can open the complete KYF details.

Environmental Responsibility

Good food should not leave behind unnecessary plastic.

Food delivery can produce a large amount of waste—plastic containers, lids, cutlery, carry bags, sauce containers, straws, seals and sachets. BRBFoods is being developed with the objective of eliminating single-use plastic from the ordering and delivery experience.

The platform will focus on environmentally responsible alternatives for food containers, lids, carry bags, cutlery, napkins, sealing materials, condiment packaging and beverage packaging.

Plastic-Free Packaging

No plastic should be the standard—not an optional extra.

BRBFoods intends to use packaging made from suitable alternatives such as:

  • Bagasse, paper and cardboard
  • Areca leaf, bamboo and wood
  • Compostable materials
  • Other verified environmentally responsible materials

The material selected will depend on the type of food, heat and moisture, delivery time, food safety, leakage prevention, local availability and disposal considerations. Environmental responsibility should not come at the cost of food safety.

More Than a Green Label

Eco-friendly claims should be specific.

BRBFoods should not use words such as “green,” “sustainable” or “biodegradable” without explaining what they mean. Wherever practical, customers should be able to see:

  • What the packaging is made from
  • Whether it is recyclable or compostable
  • How it should be disposed of
  • Whether any plastic component is present
  • Which environmental standard or certification applies

The objective is not merely to look environmentally responsible. It is to make responsible packaging part of the actual operating model.

Ordering Experience

Clear information. Simple ordering.

Food transparency should not make the ordering process slow or complicated. Customers should be able to explore the details when needed and order quickly when they already know what they want.

Simple ordering flow

  1. Browse available dishes
  2. Open the KYF information
  3. Filter by preferences
  4. Select portion or quantity
  5. Customise where available
  6. Review price and pay
  7. Track the order

Search by what matters

  • Protein content and calorie range
  • Type of cooking oil
  • Preparation method
  • Vegetarian or vegan preference
  • Ingredients and allergen exclusions
  • Spice level and low-oil dishes
  • Plastic-free packaging

Dish customisation

  • Less oil, less salt, less spicy
  • No chilli, onion, garlic, butter or cheese
  • Remove a specific ingredient
  • Add extra protein
  • Change a side item
  • Exclude disposable cutlery

Honest food listing

  • A clear image
  • An honest portion representation
  • A readable description
  • Serving information
  • Key ingredients and KYF details
  • Any important variation disclaimer

Not every dish can support every customisation. The platform should clearly show what can and cannot be changed rather than accepting requests the kitchen may not be able to fulfil. Trust begins before the order is placed.

Quality and Consistency

Transparency must be supported by the kitchen.

KYF will only be valuable when the dish is prepared according to the information displayed. BRBFoods will therefore need clear operational controls around standardised recipes, ingredient records, portion sizes, approved cooking oils, spice information, nutritional calculations, allergen declarations, packaging materials and kitchen compliance.

When a recipe changes, the KYF information should also be updated.

Delivery

Food should arrive safely, clearly and responsibly.

The delivery experience should protect food quality, temperature, hygiene, packaging integrity, order accuracy and environmental commitments. Useful order information may include confirmation, preparation status, packaging status, dispatch information, delivery tracking, expected arrival and support for damaged or incorrect orders.

Eco-friendly packaging should still be secure, leak-resistant and suitable for transportation.

What BRBFoods Will Not Be

Clear promises are better than exaggerated promises.

A medical or dietary-advice platform
A guarantee that every dish is healthy
A weight-loss service
A substitute for professional nutritional guidance
A platform that labels food as good or bad without context
Another delivery app differentiated only by discounts
Eco-friendly language with hidden plastic usage
A system that can completely eliminate allergy risks

Why BRBFoods Is Different

Most platforms help you find food. BRBFoods helps you understand it.

The central difference is not simply that customers can place an order through an application. It is the information and responsibility surrounding that order.

BRBFoods is being built around three connected promises:

Know Your Food Understand the ingredients, nutrition, cooking oil, spices and preparation.
Order With Confidence Make a choice based on information that matters to you.
Leave Less Waste Receive food in packaging designed to avoid unnecessary plastic.

KYF and the plastic-free approach should not be treated as promotional add-ons. They are intended to be part of the core product and operating model.

Example Customer Journey

From curiosity to an informed order

A customer wants to order paneer tikka but also wants to understand how it is prepared. Through BRBFoods, the customer may be able to see:

  • Main ingredients and estimated nutritional values
  • Approximate protein
  • Oil used in the marinade or preparation
  • Spices and masalas
  • Whether dairy and nuts are present
  • How the dish is cooked
  • Portion information and packaging material

The customer can then decide whether the dish fits their preferences, request an available customisation and place the order. The food arrives in packaging designed to avoid single-use plastic.

KYF Information Standards

Trust depends on where the information comes from.

Recipe Information

Based on the actual ingredients and preparation process used by the kitchen.

Nutritional Estimates

Calculated using ingredient quantities, recipe information and standard nutritional references.

Supplier Information

Based on information provided by ingredient or packaging suppliers.

Customer Guidance

Simple explanations derived from the available dish information. Where data is estimated, it should be described as an estimate.

KYF stands for Know Your Food. It is the BRBFoods concept for giving customers useful information about a dish before they order it. Depending on the dish, this may include ingredients, nutritional values, cooking oil, spices, preparation method, allergens and packaging information.

The objective is to provide nutritional information wherever reliable recipe and serving data are available. Some values may be estimates and may vary based on preparation, portion size and ingredient variation.

Yes. Disclosing the type of cooking oil or fat used is intended to be an important part of KYF. Where more than one oil or fat is used, the information should be clearly explained.

The main spices, seasonings and masalas used in the dish are intended to be included in the KYF information. Complete proprietary recipe quantities may not always be disclosed, but customers should receive enough information to understand the important ingredients and flavour profile.

BRBFoods intends to use biodegradable, compostable, recyclable or otherwise environmentally responsible materials wherever suitable. The exact material and disposal guidance should be displayed clearly rather than relying only on a general “eco-friendly” label.

No. BRBFoods will offer food information, not declare every dish healthy. Customers will be able to understand the ingredients and nutritional profile and make their own choices.

Customisation options are part of the intended experience. Their availability will depend on the dish, recipe and kitchen operation.
